My name is Kristen. 23, feminist southern woman living in Washington, DC, so I'm always unhappy about rent, sweet tea, and the patriarchy. Game of Thrones, comics, my pets, and cooking make me happy.

I went on a couponing trip to Rite Aid yesterday. I am torn with the shopping at drug stores. They have really good deals when it comes to buy 1 get 1 free. And they do a niffty thing called “Register Rewards” where if you purchase specific items you get store credit!
But, drug stores are ridiculously expensive, especially when compared to the commissary.

Yesterday I paid 22.99 out of pocket. It all retails for $58.62, at Rite Aid anyways. Thats a savings of 39% which admittedly is lower than I wanted.
Oh well moving on.
I split my purchase up into 3 different transactions because I wanted to use my register rewards. Register rewards are “coupons” or rather, store credit that print on your receipt when you purchase certain items. You use them on your next purchase!
Transaction #1
Snickers Bar, and Penut M&Ms - pay $1.76 out of pocket (.88 a piece.) Recieve $1.76 Register Reward. (Weekly Promotion!)
Schick Hydro 3 Razor - $8.99, $3 off Coupon. Final Price: $5.99
Schick Hydro Shaving Cream $3.79, - $1 off Coupon. Final Price $2.79
Rite Aid is running a promotion this week, Purchase $10 of Schick Hydro Products, receive a $3 Register Reward.
Total Out of Pocket Cost - $10.54
Register Rewards Received $4.76

Transaction #2
Coke, Fanta, Dr. Pepper 12 packs. 3/9.99 or $3.33 a piece. (.20 cheaper than the commissary!!)
Buy 3 receive $2 register reward.
4 Butterfinger Snackerz .99 a piece. I had two  $1 off 2 coupons so I paid $1.96 for 4!
2 Veet Wax Strips (face wax!) (This gets a little complicated, so follow me closely!) retails $4.49
2 in ad coupons for 3.00 off Veet (in ad coupon meaning a Rite Aid coupon that runs in their weekly sale paper. You can pick them up at the store, or find them in your local sunday paper.)
1 $2 off any Veet Product
1 $1 off any Veet Product
I got them both for free (.2 overage!) It would be smarter to use 2 / $2 off coupons instead of just 1 like I did. I just didn’t have another one with me. You would get a $1.02 overage!
$1 Register Reward with the purchase a of a Veet Product. So I got $2 register reward!
I used my $4.76 Register Rewards on this purchase, and then paid $8.87 out of pocket!

Transaction Number 3
Buy 1 Get 1 Free Purex Laundry Detergent - $5.99
I used my $4 register rewards from Transaction # 2, and after tax paid $2.45 for 2 bottles of laundry detergent!
