Al Qaeda is targeting Muslim women with a brand new U.S.-style glossy magazine that offers home and beauty tips alongside testimonials from the wives of suicide bombers and female jihadists. The first 30-page issue of Al-Shamikha was recently made available for purchase online by the Al Fajr Media Centre.

I find this disturbing on several levels, as well as intriguing. People (and by people, I mean people that Ryan and I encounter that don’t understand much about the dynamics of terrorism. Not that I’m claiming to be an expert.) don’t understand that Al-Qaeda is a very advanced and complex enemy. It isn’t simply old men in caves with battered down weapons. (which seems to be the mental picture people conjure up when you say the word “terrorist”)
